Our dental examinations are more than just a ‘check up’, we pride ourselves in comprehensive full mouth assessments performed by our gentle dentists. An examination is the vital first step to assess the state of your oral health. We will listen to your concerns and needs and development a treatment plan that is guided by you. Often times there are no symptoms of tooth decay. Hence it is important that you regularly see a dentist because not all cavities and problems give rise to any symptoms or pain. If picked up in the early stages and this can mean a simple, cost effective and less invasive treatment such as a filling.
During your examination we will take x-rays of your mouth, this is very important to ensure there are no cavities or other internal dental problems. Routine examinations should be performed twice a year to keep on top of your oral health. If cavities are found, we will discuss this with you and go over treatment options. Your routine exam is also a great time to bring up any general questions you might have about your tooth and gum health. We also ensure emergency appointments are available every day.
Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we have 3 Hygienists that will help support you achieve optimal oral health. Hygiene treatment ranges from routine professional teeth and gum cleaning to advanced gum disease treatment. Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss as it causes the underlying jaw bone to resorb resulting in wiggly teeth and gum recession. This disease can be easily treated and prevented through regular hygiene treatment.
Dental hygienists are a valuable resource and can provide targeted dental hygiene treatment, tailored to you and your family. Apart from making your mouth feel fresh and clean there are a number of benefits of regular hygiene treatment including improving your overall health and helping increase the long term prognosis of your teeth. Hygienists can also offer advice in the areas such as smoking cessation, diet and improving oral health and halitosis (bad breath).
Oral Health Therapists are trained as both Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists with a strong focus on oral health education and disease prevention. Dental Therapists provide oral health assessment, preventative care and basic treatment (such as fillings and extraction of baby teeth) to children and adolescence up to the age of 18. More complex treatment such as root canal fillings are referred to a dentist or specialist. At Naenae Dental Clinic our Oral Health Therapist provides treatment for adolescence up to 18 years of age under the government dental benefit (free of charge).
Tooth Restoration
- Fillings
- Ceramic Onlay and Inlays
- Root Canal Treatment
- Crowns
When cavities arise, they must be cleaned and the tooth filled to prevent more serious issues and tooth loss. We use the latest composite fillings (white fillings), that are colored to match your tooth. Gone are the days of silver mercury fillings as white fillings have improved incredibly over the years. Fillings are completed in a single visit and completed by our experienced dentists. Once your tooth is completely free of decay, the dentist will restore the tooth to normal. Glass ionomer is another tooth colored material that can be used to restore your teeth. It is typically used as a temporary filling, or as a foundation underneath fillings made of composite.
Inlays and onlays are the ceramic alternative to regular fillings commonly used in the back teeth. They are used to repair teeth that are decayed or cracked and are not sufficiently damaged to need a crown. Inlays and onlays are used when there is too much damage or decay in the tooth structure to be successfully and reliably treated using a filling. Aside from improving a tooth’s appearance, inlays and onlays are very durable as they’re made from tough, hard-wearing porcelain materials and can help strengthen teeth unlike traditional fillings. Therefore they help prolong tooth life and prevent the need for more dental treatment in the future.
Root canal treatment is required when the nerve of a tooth is infected. Nerve infection may be caused by traumatic injury, cracks, wear or by decay. Symptoms may include very severe throbbing pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, tooth discoloration, and swelling or soreness in the gums surrounding the tooth.
If your tooth is throbbing root canal treatment is often the only way to save your tooth. We pride ourselves in painless procedures and complete hundreds of successful root canals every year whilst using the latest technology. With the use of strong local anesthesia to completely numb the area before the procedure begins, we can ensure you do not feel any pain during the treatment. If a root canal is required, typically two to three appointments are necessary to complete the process. The first appointment will focus on removing the infection, disinfecting the tooth and resolving any pain you are experiencing; the second will involve restoring the tooth to normal.
Crowns are custom-made caps that are used to restore and strengthen a weak or broken down tooth. They can be used to strengthen cracked teeth or for aesthetic reasons to improve your smile by changing the shape and colour of your teeth. Crowns can be made out of a variety of different materials including gold and most commonly porcelain. Porcelain is used due to its high strength and natural aesthetic colour and appearance. Crowns replace the exterior part of a tooth to restore its original function and to create a natural appearance. Crowns are the treatment of choice in situations where tooth decay has destroyed most of the original tooth, when a traumatic event has caused extensive damage, or in cases of severe enamel erosion or wear. Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we can create natural and aesthetic crowns in-house using our computer aided design technology. This means most of our crowns are completed in a single visit and only require one appointment. We do not work with any overseas dental laboratories in order to ensure the highest quality results for our patients.
Dental Surgery
- Extractions
- Wisdom Tooth Removal
A dental extraction may be required for multiple different reasons including severely decayed and infected tooth or for orthodontic reasons. Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we have very experienced dental surgeons who can make your tooth extraction a painless experience. For teeth that are visible in the mouth a simple extraction can be performed and typically only requires local anaesthetic. We also work with local maxillofacial surgeons for major oral surgery that is beyond the scope of general dental practice.
The wisdom teeth are the final set of molars to erupt in the mouth. Not everyone keeps these teeth, nor are they necessary for having a healthy, beautiful smile. Wisdom teeth commonly cause issues for many people. It is not uncommon for these teeth to become impacted, in other words blocked. An impacted tooth is one which has not grown through the gum into the mouth or has grown only part way through, and is in an abnormal position. This is unhealthy and the tooth should be removed to prevent problems such as abscesses, gum disease, cysts or infection. Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we have excellent Dental Surgeons who are very experienced in removal of wisdom teeth. In very complex cases, you may be referred to a Maxillofacial Oral Surgeon to undertake the procedure under general anaesthetic.
Tooth Replacement
- Implants
- Bridges
- Dentures
- All of Four Tooth Replacement
Implants are usually the ideal option for replacing one or more missing teeth. Using modern techniques implants are made to look and feel as close to your natural teeth as possible. Implants are used as a root replacement and have a custom made crown on top to replace the missing tooth. Two or more implants can be used to support a bridge to replace multiple teeth. Both front and back teeth can be replaced by implants, and they can also be used to hold dentures in place.
Here at Naenae Dental Clinic our principal dentist Hamid has undergone extensive training worldwide and is astute in implant surgery. He takes a conservative approach to assess if implants are appropriate. Over the years has placed and restored hundreds of implants using the latest technology in the field.
A porcelain fixed bridge is very useful when replacing a tooth or a couple of teeth that are missing or no longer viable. A porcelain bridge replaces missing teeth by using the surrounding teeth as a foundation. The porcelain bridge fits over your natural teeth on either side of the gap. In this way, the bridge, made up of three or more joint crowns is supported by the teeth either side of the gap.
Porcelain bridges are a great replacement option as they can be shaped to replicate original teeth and fit comfortably within the established bite pattern. Porcelain is very durable, will withstand most natural tooth functions, and can naturally mimic tooth enamel. Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we can create natural and aesthetic restorations in-house using our computer aided design technology. We do not work with any overseas dental laboratories in order to ensure the highest quality results for our patients.
Dentures or false teeth are custom made to fit your mouth and replace missing teeth. Historically, they have always been removable, but with modern techniques we can now provide dentures that are fixed into place with dental implants, giving much greater comfort and stability.
Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we provide a range of different denture services including cast metal dentures and conventional acrylic dentures. Dentures can be used to replace an entire set of teeth or only replace missing teeth between your natural ones. We work with a local dental technician who has more than 30 years’ experience in the field. Every denture is custom made to fit your mouth giving them a very natural appearance and the closest possible resemblance to your natural teeth.
All-on-Four Treatment is a cost effective, modern technique whereby a whole set of teeth can be supported by only 4 implants. Say BYE to Dentures! This treatment concept can be used in either the upper or lower jaw to form replacement teeth that look, feel and function very similar to natural teeth – they are FIXED on the implants and thus are never taken out like dentures. In some instances more than 4 dental implants may be necessary to ensure good support and durability of the implant teeth. Your experienced team at Naenae Dental Clinic will be able to advise you on which treatment option is best suited to your case after your initial examination and assessment appointment. Working with Maxillofacial Surgeons, we are able to replace all of your missing teeth or failing teeth with modern technology and materials.
Cosmetics
- Veneers
- Teeth Whitening
Veneers are thin, tooth-coloured porcelain laminates that are custom made and shaped to bond to the front of your teeth. They are used to recreate the natural look of your teeth. Veneers are primarily an aesthetic option for treating chipped, uneven or discoloured teeth. They can also be used to eliminate gaps between the teeth and improve your smile. Veneers are custom-made for your teeth therefore it is almost impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth.
Teeth whitening or bleaching is an affordable way of improving your smile, helping remove stains and discoloration. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular dental cosmetic procedures because of its ease of use and obvious improvements. The most common reason for teeth to become yellow is because of tobacco smoking, drinking coffee, tea or wine and poor oral hygiene. Here at Naenae Dental Clinic we offer several different teeth whitening options that can help improve your smile including Take-Home Whitening Trays and Professional Whitening (ZOOM Whitening) undertaken in the clinic.
Take-Home Whitening trays include are Pre-Loaded Bleaching Trays which are worn daily. These are very easy to use and help whiten teeth significantly. Take-Home Whitening Trays are a lower concentration of bleaching agent, hence they usually require repeat treatments to have effect. These can be purchased from the front office or may be custom made to specifically fit your mouth.
Professional Whitening (ZOOM Whitening) involves the application whitening gel to the teeth. The gel is activated by a LED light, and activates the photochemical reaction and allows the gel to gently penetrate the tooth to remove deep stains. The main benefit of Professional Whitening is time. As results are seen instantly after treatment.
